Turkey Day & Gobbles of Gratefulness

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We managed to get Nolan saying "turrrr-keyyyy" today! He said it a few times, then started to confuse it with "coooo-kieeee". However, regardless of how many times we're able to get him to say the word turkey it'll still be a blessing if he actually eats it! Unfortunately, we're still having food battles with him daily. As many of you are aware, he never took to baby food; therefore, we were told to start table food sooner than usual. The new transition went very smoothly for, oh...about 3 days?!?! Ever since we've still been battling mealtimes. We try not to force him to eat, but did become quite skillful at tricking him into eating there for a while. As he's gotten older he's become wiser and no longer buys into our schemes! Typically, he does very well with breakfast, and Jen does her best to get him to eat lunch - sometimes it's a winning game and other times it's lost. Lucky for her she likes a challenge and doesn't give up easily! He does thoroughly enjoy "snacks" - and yes, we've tried days with no snacks at all to see if that makes a difference in dinner - and no, it does not. As of his last well visit to the pediatrician he was no longer on the growth charts for weight, before that he was in the 3rd pecentile! He is still at the 10th percentile for his height! The dr's are not concerned as long as he's still gaining some weight and because he's so active (almost never sitting still), hitting developmental milestones, good mood, and sleeping well. So today, we'll be crossing our fingers that he, too, will endulge in today's feast and be as stuffed as everyone else!

With that long story told...today we do have a lot to be thankful for...despite his eating habits, we have a healthy, active boy. Nolan has already fulfilled the lives of us, our parents, and many others. With each day, he helps us remember what life is all about and not to take it too seriously. Today, and every day we are grateful for each other and the health and wellness of all our family and friends. Y
