Tis the Season

Nolan had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and enjoyed sharing in some cousinly love. His cousin, Makayla, is getting old enough that Nolan thought she needed to start learning how to give "bumps", better known to many as "Knuckles" (one of Nolan's favorite things to do). He also was able to get in some playtime with his cousin, TJ. He actually started saying his name over Thanksgiving, also..."Teee-Jayyy", now we hear it ALL the time! Besides, "TJ", he's also really expanded on his vocabulary over Thanksgiving break. He went from saying just a few words, to repeating just about everything - whether it's said out loud, on TV, or on the radio. It's amazing how much he's absorbed and how quickly. One of his words is "boots" after he discovered how much he loves Papa's boots. When Papa puts on his boots that usually means Nolan is going to get to go outside with Papa, and in his world there is not too many things that are better than that! We ended our weekend with a trip to get Christmas pictures done (which turned out pretty good), and while we were waiting we took a trip to visit Ole' St. Nick. This did not go smoothly. We've been prepping him with "Santa" by showing pictures and pointing him out on TV. Typically Nolan loves people and usually has no problem going to someone....someone dressed in red from head to toe and covered in a white fluffy beard is another story. He was all smiles when walking up to Santa, but as we approached he dug his hands into my back, wrapped his legs around me, and the child's knees were actually shaking!!! Needless to say, he never made it on his lap, but oddly enough, the second we said "Okay, tell Santa bye-bye" he instantly stopped crying turned to him and said, "Bye" with no more tears. We were even able to get him to give Santa a bump and a handshake. Just for kicks, we may end up trying this again!
