Happy GOLDEN Birthday...

...My BEAUTIFUL & HANDSOME 4 Year Old

4 years has passed much too quickly, but has also filled my life with so much joy and deeper love than I could have ever imagined. Each year, his birthday gets better and better. It's so exciting to watch the anticipation of his big day build up days before the actual birthday. It's so fun (yet exhausting) to hear the different themes he wants to celebrate his birthday, but so great to hear his own opinions (Be sure to check out his updated stats on the side).

He is currently obsessed with Pokemon. I, however, cannot really stand it. Maybe because it's SO old? Maybe because I'm a girl? Either way, I just don't get it...but he certainly does. A lot of it comes from being around the older kids at school. Here are some of the themes he'd wanted leading up to his 4th birthday: Dinosaurs, Pokemon, Mario, Toy Story...but only Rex - not Buzz or Woody (strange), & Star Wars. The winner was Pokemon.

He got very embarassed while being sang to. He blew the candle out early to create a distraction. We re-lit it, and then he put it out with a paper plate...luckily no fire was started!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a picture of all the kids together at once. Is that too high of an expectation of 3 and 4 year olds?! Regardless, I think fun was had by all...adults included. I was just a little jealous that I couldn't participate on the trampolines, beams, bars, foam pit, etc!

We woke him up bright and early on his actual birthday...he was a little sleepy, but managed to open his present from Mommy & Daddy just fine. The music-playing birthday card was a little much for 6:00 a.m., but it was a school day and I couldn't wait all day to give him his present. He couldn't wait to come home that night to use it...we got him a durable, digital camera of his own. I believe stored on his memory card right now is a picture of almost every. single. toy. that he owns!

Nolan even got to see the Easter Bunny on his actual birthday this year...last year his birthday fell on Easter day. My son has a vivid memory, and usually remembers all sorts of things that I wouldn't even think he'd possible recall. Upon seeing this Easter Bunny, he was a little disappointed. He quickly told us that it wasn't the real Easter Bunny because the real one has white fur. We replied that it's his brother that helps him out sometimes. Hmm...

He also didn't want much to do with him once he was closer either. It was on to Red Lobster for his birthday meal...yes, his choice.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NOLAN....MOMMY & DADDY LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

PS: Once Nolan knew we were pregnant, we answered his question about when will the baby be here by "after your birthday" since it was a ways away at the time...since last Monday, he's asked almost daily if his baby will come today because it is no longer his birthday. OOPS!

*On a side note, Baby must have heard his/her big brother because the day after Nolan's birthday I was in the hospital for some pretty regular/strong contractions. A few shots later and a prescription of daily medication I'm still having contractions, but no longer at regular intervals.
Thank goodness, too, because little man ended up with Strep Throat yet again...remember my post a couple months back about vices...perhaps if I could get the child to QUIT SUCKING HIS FINGERS...we wouldn't have strep so often!
